The FastTrack® system is a strong shelving system that is perfect to use anywhere in your home, and it is easy to adjust as your storage needs changes. The FastTrack Rails are the backbone of the system. Install the rails and then add uprights, brackets and shelves to complete your closet.
Holes in FastTrack Rail don't align with wall studs?
The holes on the FastTrack Rail are 12" apart. Wall studs are typically 16" apart. Wouldn't it be more useful to place the holes 8" or 16" apart? Maybe even 4". More holes increases chances of hitting more studs while placing it where you need it to go.
By my estimation, if the hole are every 12in, then they will line up with the center of the stud every 14 feet. The Experts' suggestion here is not helpful. Rubbermaid needs to conform to building standards.

Could not agree more - it is a poorly designed product.
It is suggested to install the FastTrack Closet Rail into as many studs as possible. Where a stud is not available, the rail should be installed using a drywall anchor.
