We closely monitor the sales of our products by colors, and we conduct consumer color preference surveys several times each year to detect changes and strong trends.

Our customers, the retailers, want to carry every item in its full color range but have only limited capital to stock in each. Furthermore, retailers expect that Rubbermaid will sell them only colors with fast turnover in their stores. We depend on living up to this expectation.

We have found that soaking the mat in a baking soda solution or lemon juice and water will typically remove odors. Also, allowing the item to air dry outside can aid in odor removal.

Question

Why have you changed the colors of your sink mats?

I can truly understand why you have added new colors to your sink mats, but would like to know why, after 25 years that I have been buying, would you omit such a basic neutral color such as bisque/cream, whatever you call it? Thank You. Also, WHY do I have to have a nickname just to get my product question answered?

For reasons of inventory management in the mass market, we can offer our products in only 4 to 5 popular colors at any one time, as long as it is sufficiently popular to represent at least 10% of the total sales volume for that item across the nation.

While this regrettably limits consumers' selection, compelling business reasons for it are quite obvious. Our customers, the retailers, want to carry every item in its full color range but have only limited capital to stock in each. Furthermore, retailers expect that Rubbermaid will sell them only colors with fast turnover in their stores. We depend on living up to this expectation.

Therefore, we not only closely monitor the sales of our products by colors, but we conduct consumer color preference surveys in major metropolitan centers around the U.S. at least 3 to 4 times every year, to detect changes and strong trends.

Question

Why did you stop making basic sink mats?

We really prefer the basic white sink mat that was discontinued last June. I do not want to buy any products with an antimicrobial additive--not socks, not products for the kitchen, etc. Please bring the basic sink mat back. It was sturdy and affordable.

The drain hole for our sinkware items is located in the center of the mats only. We do not currently offer an off-center drain hole in our sink mats.

Question

Will you ever bring back the old sink mats in dark green, including the sink connector that drapes over 2 adjoining sinks?

I am like the other customers who are so disappointed that you discontinued the nice fitting, sturdy, durable kitchen sink drain mats. Given the reviews from other customers re: your new mats, I will not be buying these. Did you ever hear the phrase: "Never mess with a winning streak"? So disheartened!
