Why were the 4-Shelf Unit - 24" Deep etc. discontinued?

I have quite a few of these shelves and got a new shed and wanted to get more. In addition Target & Walmart in South Fl. have discontinued a lot of your items but yet in Oct. of 2011 Meijers in Ohio had things like the laundry baskets I can't fine around here. After buying Rubbermaid products for over 25 years why are they disappearing? I would rather jump off of a bridge than buy Sterilite that is often cracked already on the store shelves. I really miss the good ol days of shopping when products were available and actually lasted, like my Rubbermaid lawn furniture that is still usable, it is old and stained but still sturdy. Thanks

Rubbermaid usually discontinues a product due to declining sales. To be successful, retail stores must refresh their shelves and offer a product mix that will stimulate sales. Rubbermaid must continue to develop new products on a regular basis to meet store and consumer demands. This leads to the discontinuation of older products to make room for the manufacturing and warehousing of new products.
