The length of time the ice packs stay frozen varies according to use. Factors to take into consideration are temperature of the cooler when ice was placed inside, temperature of the food when placed inside, size of the ice pack, size of the cooler, amount of food inside cooler, and the outside temperature when using the cooler.

Blue Ice is considered a substitute for ice in coolers. They do not have an expected time frame for staying frozen, for keeping products cold, or an expected lifespan. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Blue Ice is considered an alternative to ice; it is not guaranteed to stay cold or frozen for any amount of time as there are several variables that will effect its performance (such as the temperature of the contents when placed in the cooler, the temperature of the cooler, and the outside temperature if used outdoors).

Please note that we are unable to provide recommendations on non-Rubbermaid products; we do not currently manufacture a 120 quart cooler.

Typically, for a Rubbermaid cooler, the recommended use is 1 pound of ice per rated quart of the cooler. The use of large cube, block ice, or an ice substitute (such as Blue Ice) is recommended rather than shaved ice.
