Question

Why such imited color choices & sizes on shelf boards?

I have been installing single rail shelving for the past 35 years. Recently I went to expand a section but discovered you no longer carry many of the wood finish colors in many of the sizes.
This is especially true for 8" x 48" and 8" x 60" boards which I use for CD's and DVD's. I have existing 8" depth systems in natural and black that I can no longer add new shelves too. I opted for 10" x 48" natural but it's really too deep for this use and I'm not all that happy with it. Honestly, you should offer natural and black on every size board that's now only available in white. White might be great for the closet but it doesn't fit in many living or rec rooms.

Retailers expect that Rubbermaid will sell them only colors with fast turnover in their stores. We depend on living up to this expectation.

We closely monitor the sales of our products by colors, and we conduct consumer color preference surveys several times each year to detect changes and strong trends.

It is not suggested to cut the wood shelving as it can chip the shelving and damage the finish.
