Question

How do I mount shelves to twin track brackets so that they will be adjustable?

It appears that if I mount the shelves to they are flush to the uprights, they will not be able to be removed to change their position. Is that true? If so, how far should they be spaced from the uprights?

The shelves should be attached to the brackets. This is so the shelf cannot be bumped or knocked off the brackets.

It is not suggested to attach the shelf until the placement of the brackets is determined. If a shelf needs to be moved, the shelf should be unscrewed from the brackets.

When installed correctly into the upright, the Twin Track bracket should be at a 90 degree angle so that the shelf will lay flat on the uprights.

For assistance in installing the brackets, please call 888-895-2110 to speak to a representative, 8:30 to 5:00 ET, Monday through Friday.

The label on the Rubbermaid twin track uprights and shelf brackets does not show a country of origin. Are they still made in Canada or the USA?

Question

Number of uprights for shelves

I have a limited space to hang shelves on a 50" wall. The studs are 8" away from the center on either side. I want to hang 36" shelves but only have room for two track uprights. I know the documentation says for 36" shelves you should have three, but if I keep weight evenly distributed on the shelves, do you think two uprights would suffice?

To hang a 36" wood shelf, three uprights must be used as per our instructions. Wherever a stud is not available, install the upright using the drywall anchors included in the Twin Track Hardware Pack.

Question

50 lbs or 500 lbs?

Do these brackets hold 50 pounds per foot or 500? The Closets and Shelving home page short description says 500 pounds. The product information page says 50 pounds. And this is from the Home Depot page: "Brackets have an epoxy finish that will not chip, peel or yellow over time. Each bracket supports up to 500 lbs."

Which is it? 50 pounds or 500 pounds?

Securing the shelf to bracket

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you attach the shelf to the bracket? I bought the hardware pack to install the rail into the wall...was I supposed to buy separate screws to attach the bracket into the shelf?
