"Retailers expect that Rubbermaid will sell them only colors with fast turnover in their stores. We depend on living up to this expectation.
We closely monitor the sales of our products by colors, and we conduct consumer color preference surveys several times each year to detect changes and strong trends.
You may be sure that we will introduce accessories in new colors as soon as the demand for these colors becomes greater."

"Rubbermaid usually discontinues a product due to declining sales. To be successful, retail stores must freshen their shelves and offer a product mix that will stimulate sales. Rubbermaid must continue to develop new products on a regular basis to meet store and consumer demands. This leads to the discontinuation of older products to make room for the manufacturing and warehousing of new products. Current product information is available on our website. "

"Dishwasher Safe" means that the materials are safe to put in the dishwasher without fear of health hazard. Since the item is plastic, you should use care to make sure that the container is not directly exposed to high heat, such as the heat from the heating element.

Please read your dishwasher instructions for recommendations on how to wash plastic items in your specific dishwasher, since designs vary.

Most of our products are made from polyethylene and polypropylene. One of the features of these plastics is that they are easy to clean because materials do not adhere well to them. Unfortunately, this property prevents adhesives or paints from sticking well. We know of no way to change this fundamental property of the plastic at the point of use.

Question

What is the largest container you have that is safe for water storage?

I would like to know what is the largest container you have that is safe for water storage. I was looking at your 32-gallon garbage cans but I am not sure if they are safe to store water in. I live in Florida and with the fear of hurricanes I would like to be able to store water that would be safe to drink or for use in my fish tanks.

Rubbermaid does not manufacture a water container designed for long term storage. If storing water during a storm, we recommend our insulated water coolers. The largest size is the #1610 ten gallon water cooler.

We do not recommend storing food or water in anything not designated for food or beverage.

Rubbermaid storage totes are designed for household use and should not be used outdoors as they have no UV protectant in them. Exposure to the elements may cause the totes to become brittle and crack.

Our suggestion for removing the adhesive label (or the store's price sticker) is to use a small amount of cooking oil.

Rub the oil into the label to soften it and loosen the adhesive to a point where you can lift off the label and wipe away any remaining adhesive. If after removing the label you still feel stickiness, place a liberal amount of talcum powder on that area, allow it to stand for approximately 30 minutes, then rub it off. These removal methods will not harm the finish of the product in any way. Other products that remove remaining adhesive are WD-40, Goo Gone, and Avon Skin-So Soft.

Question

What is the difference between closet systems

I am shopping for a closet system to install in all the closets of my new house. I see Homefree and Fasttrack systems at Lowe's and Configurations at Amazon. Why are there 3 systems that all look so similar, and what are the differences? Are the pieces interchangeable? I don't want to spend $1000 only to have my easy-to-update, customizable closets obsolete in a few years!

The HomeFree System is sold through Lowes in the color white, in kits and in individual pieces. It is the exact same pieces and hardware as Configurations and can be interchanged with the Configurations line. Configurations is only manufactured in the satin nickel color and is only sold in kits, not individually. Both the Configurations and HomeFree lines are adjustable to the size of your closet using hang rails, uprights, 12" depth shelving, clothes rods and accessories. They offer expanding shelves and clothes rods to fit your desired size closet. The kits are sold in 3'-6', 4'-8' and 6'-10'. Basically the only difference between these two systems is the color and how it is sold in kits vs. in individual pieces.

The Fast Track System is also a rail mount system that uses any of our basic wire shelving, hang rail, uprights and brackets. The shelving must be cut to your desired size but is available in 12", 16" and 20" depths. The Fast Track system which is only sold in the color white will not accomodate a clothes bar. If this is a feature you desire you would need to use the Freeslide shelving. Most of the Fast Track is sold individually not in kits. The Fast Track System is not interchangeable with the Configurations or HomeFree lines.
